Ted Antonopoulos

Head Golf Professional, Mayacama Golf Club

Born and raised in Augusta Georgia, Ted was exposed to golf at an early age. His father George was an avid golfer and his brother Buddy has been the Head Golf Professional at Medalist Golf Club in Hobe Sound Florida since that Club’s inception. Ted has been a Golf Professional for 31 years, and a Class “A” Member of the Professional Golfers Association of America for 28 years. Prior to Mayacama, Ted’s prior employment includes Tournament Players Club at Sawgrass, Carmel Valley Golf & Country Club, Tournament Players Club at Eagle Trace, PGA National Golf Club, Cypress Links, and Fisher Island Club. He has been the only Head Golf Professional at Mayacama Golf Club, joining the staff here in April 2001. Prior to Mayacama’s opening in August 2011, Ted was responsible in setting the guidelines and establishing the customs for the Club from a golfer’s perspective, borrowing from the long-standing traditions of the game and club culture from private clubs in both the USA and Great Britain and Ireland. During his professional career, Ted has received several distinguished awards including Merchandiser of the Year Honors in the South Florida PGA Section, and was also nominated for the award at the National Level. Ted also brings to Mayacama his experience of staging and managing championships at the game’s highest level, having been the Host Professional at several PGA Tour golf tournaments including the Tournament Players Championship, Honda Classic, Merrill Lynch Shoot-Out Championship, and one of the four “Major Championships” in golf – The 1987 PGA Championship. This experience enabled him to secure and conduct a National Championship at Mayacama Golf Club, the USGA Men’s State Team Championship, which the Club hosted in 2010. Ted is also a Founding Board Member of the Sonoma County Children’s Charities, which promotes the annual fundraiser to benefit several children’s charities in Sonoma County. He also serves on the US Senior Amateur Championship Committee and Rules Committee. Ted and his wife Susie live in Santa Rosa, and their daughter Amber lives in Los Angeles.

Growing up in Michigan, Brooks developed his passion for the game of golf at The First Tee of Battle Creek, a program teaching juniors core values of life through the game of golf. Summer days spent at The First Tee quickly transitioned into competition around the Midwest, playing in GolfWeek and Meijer Junior Tours.

The desire to make golf a focal point in his life and career lead Brooks to the South, where he attended Mississippi State University. During his time at Mississippi State, Brooks served as President and Tournament Director of the PGA Golf Management Student Association and completed over 18 months of internship experience in the golf industry.

Prior to graduating from Mississippi State, Brooks spent seven months at Mayacama as a Golf Professional Intern before returning full time as an Assistant Golf Professional in 2020.
